Privacy Policy
Who we are
Woongie is operated by Steve Yong Nam. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use the Woongie website (woongie.com), the Woongie mobile app, and any services we offer.
For questions about this policy, contact us at contact@woongie.com.
What we collect
Information you provide:
Email address (when you submit a questionnaire or contact us), questionnaire answers (food preferences, travel dates, cities, budget), and any messages you send us.
Information collected automatically:
Device information (device type, operating system, browser), usage data (pages visited, features used, time spent), location data (approximate location for restaurant recommendations, only with your permission), anonymous session identifiers (UUID stored locally on your device), and IP address.
How we use your data
We use your information to provide and improve the Woongie app and website, personalize restaurant recommendations based on your location and preferences, create custom food itineraries and travel plans you request, send you reports or guides you've ordered, analyze how people use the app to make it better, and communicate with you about your orders or questions.
Third-party services
We use the following services that may process your data:
Supabase for database and authentication. Your data is stored on Supabase's infrastructure.
Naver APIs for restaurant data and blog signal analysis. We send search queries but not your personal information.
Google Analytics for understanding how people use the website. This collects anonymized usage data.
Vercel for website hosting.
Data storage
Your data is stored on Supabase servers. Anonymous session data in the mobile app is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage and is tied to a random session ID, not to a user account.
No account required
The Woongie app does not require you to create an account or log in. We use anonymous session identifiers to save your preferences, saved places, and check-ins. This data stays on your device and is not linked to your identity.
Your rights
You can request access to the personal data we hold about you, ask us to delete your data, opt out of analytics tracking, and withdraw consent for location access at any time through your device settings.
To exercise these rights, email contact@woongie.com.
Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with third parties for marketing purposes. We only share data with the service providers listed above, and only as necessary to operate Woongie.
Children
Woongie is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of Woongie after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
